What lift is right for me?
Our lifts are rated for the total weight of a boat and gear (wet weight), not the dry weight as advertised by most boat and PWC companies. The dry weight that your customers quote is usually the estimated weight of the bare hull only. Many of these advertised dry weights are way off. We know of one pontoon boat that was off by almost 1,000 lbs.

Even if the dry weight is accurate, you still have to add the following to know how much the lift is being asked to carry:
Fuel = 6 lbs. per gallon
Oil = 8 lbs. per gallon
Water (in bilge and engine) = 9 lbs. per gallon
Engine = battery, controls, cables, fuel tanks
Optional Items = radio, bimini top, mooring cover, depth finder, live well
Gear = tow ropes, skis, life jackets, fire extinguisher, anchor, coolers, beverages, fishing stuff, towels

So, you can safely answer in one of two ways:
1. The Hard Way: Weigh the boat with all of its equipment and liquids on board
2. The Easy Way: Add a “fudge factor” to the advertised “dry weight”. We suggest adding a minimum of 25%.
